Square Footage: 1200
Completion Year: 2024
This project is shaped by the tension between a simple architectural form and a highly textured landscape. Set within a mature hillside property, the house uses an elemental gabled volume as a quiet counterpoint to the density of its surroundings. The building is direct in its geometry, restrained in its material palette, and intentionally open to the garden around it.
Large expanses of glass allow the landscape to become part of the interior experience, while the dark exterior stucco gives the structure a clear outline against the trees. Rather than relying on ornament or excess articulation, the project is defined by proportion, shadow, and the relationship between inside and outside. Inside, the spaces are organized with the same restraint. Exposed structure, warm materials, and generous openings create a home that feels both open and contained. The result is a compact residential project that prioritizes clarity over complexity, allowing the architecture to recede where appropriate and give presence to light, material, and landscape.
